The facial surgical rejuvenation, the so-called facelift, effectively improves the skin’s relaxation on the face and neck and the wrinkles, also the scars caused by the surgery are well hidden and after a few weeks appear to be fading.

The doctor decides on the type of surgery that is most appropriate for each patient after thorough examination of the face, eyelids and neck. The facelift can also be combined with blepharoplasty.

The incisions are made in the temporal area, where they are covered by the hair and then around the ear, with extension to the scalp. The scars are relatively easy to hide and after a few weeks they start to fade. To suture the incisions we use nylon sutures and surgical clips. The face is wrapped with a massive and soft bandage, removed before leaving the hospital.

QUICK QUESTIONS
  • What kind of anesthesia is applied?

This operation is done under general anaesthesia and you need to stay in the hospital for one day.

  • What care do I need after surgery?

It is common to have a little swelling and some bruising on the face after surgery. It takes about 10-14 days to recede. It is desirable to sleep with two-three pillows after surgery and avoid bending, excessive tightening and weight lifting for the first 2-3 weeks.

  • How long will it take to recover?

It usually takes 3-4 weeks to feel that you have fully recovered. The scars are likely to look worse in the first few weeks, but eventually they disappear. Most patients need 2-3 weeks away from their work.

  • How quickly will I return to my everyday activities?

When you leave the hospital you will not be able to drive. For 6 weeks you should avoid gym, swimming or other exercise. You can start applying make-up two weeks after surgery, and in 3 weeks you can cut or dye your hair. In any case, however, it is important to get out of bed and start moving as fast as possible!
